North Country Animal League is a registered 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization. All donations are tax deductible. NCAL relies on donations from individual donors, corporate sponsors, grants and events to operate. Last year it cost approximately $725 to house, spay/neuter, vaccinate, microchip, feed and medicate, when necessary, each animal we placed. The average stay was three weeks, though some stay only a couple days and others for several months.

Please help us help our orphaned animals. You may direct your funds to operations (which includes pet care), humane education or building upkeep by clicking the button below.

In Memory Of or In Honor Of: Additionally, you may make a donation in memory of or in honor of someone or a pet. The donation will be published in one of our newsletters during the year. Contact Cody at (802) 888-5065 x 106 or by e-mail at cody@ncal.com.

Donate a Bed Program

With dogs staying in shelters for longer periods of time it is increasingly more important to provide them with a better quality of life than sleeping on a cold, hard concrete floor. Kuranda beds provide a shelter dog with a soft, dry off the floor place to relax which every dog deserves. The calming effect reduces stress levels promoting adoption. Animal lovers across the country are making a world of difference for homeless dogs by donating beds to their local animal shelter. Contact our Executive Director at (802) 888-5065, ext. 110 or by email at adopt@ncal.com for more information.

The Guardianship Program

Other Ways to ContributeThis is another giving opportunity and a great gift for a birthday or anniversary or to honor a favorite pet companion. To become a guardian, you help cover the care of animals in one shelter kennel for six months ($70) or one year ($120.) You can choose either a dog or cat kennel. An inscribed card will be displayed on the kennel for the chosen time period indicating the animal or human friend or family member you are honoring with your donation. In addition, you or the recipient of your gift will receive an acknowledgement card as well as a follow up letter at the end of the chosen time period. For more information, contact Cody at 802-888-5065 x 106 or by e-mail at cody@ncal.com.

The Emergency Medical Fund

Help provide extraordinary medical care to an NCAL shelter animal. A great example is Pounce, a 5 year old local stray cat.  She had a large abscess on her front leg that was making it almost impossible for her to walk.  After a trip to the vet we found that the cause of the abscess was a bone infection, which could spread throughout the rest of her body.  The only way to relieve the pain and discomfort was to amputate her leg.  We were able to use the Emergency Medical Fund for this wonderful cat who would have died if left outside to fend for herself.  If you have any questions about how to donate to our Emergency Medical Fund please contact Sallie Scott at (802) 888-5065 x 110 or by e-mail at adopt@ncal.com.

Corporate Sponsorship

Other Ways to ContributeIf you are a corporation, please consider being a corporate sponsor. By doing so, you can help us vastly improve the lives of our shelter animals. In return for your generous support, your company name and logo will appear on our web site, in our newsletters and in advertising. There are several levels of giving. Please e-mail our Board President at mary@ncal.com for more information.

Estate Planning

You might want to make a gift that will be received after you and your loved ones no longer need your assets. Charitable legacy giving is free of federal gift and estate taxes. There are many ways to leave a gift. The most common is through a will.  Others are a living trust, an annuity or a life insurance gift. To choose a plan right for you, consult your estate planner, financial advisor or lawyer or NCAL and we will guide you to the right resource person. To inform NCAL of such a gift, please call the Executive Director at (802) 888-5065 x 110 or e-mail adopt@ncal.com.

Payroll Deduction Plan or a Planned Giving Gift

Other Ways to ContributeAnother way to give is to give weekly or monthly automatically through a Payroll Deduction Plan. The amount you indicate is subtracted from your salary and sent to NCAL. A gift of $1 a week or $5 a week adds up to gifts of $52 or $260 a year. A Planned Giving Gift can be automatically sent to NCAL from your bank account each month. Contact the Executive Director at (802) 888-5065 x 110 for more information and to sign up.
