North Country Animal League’s annual Mutt Strut – Walk and Run for the Animals and Festival is on Sunday, June 10th at the Mayo Farm Events Field (Weeks Hill Rd) in Stowe. Animal lovers and dogs from Lamoille County and beyond will gather for a 3-mile walk or run to raise funds for homeless pets, and enjoy an afternoon of dog and family friendly activities. A shorter route is available and animal lovers without dogs are welcome.
All proceeds from the rain or shine event, slated for 10am to 3pm, will go to help furry friends throughout the community. “We need your help to support injured, sick, homeless, abandoned and neglected animals in our community. Please help us raise as much as you can by asking friends, family, coworkers and neighbors to sponsor you for Mutt Strut. We have great prizes for kids, adults and teams raising the most for the animals,” says Tracy Goldfine, Executive Director of North Country Animal League.
802 Disc Dogs will host a demonstration in the center ring and participants will have the opportunity to take part in pet contests, including an ice cream eating contest, a mini-talent show, the best sit-stay, owner/dog look alike, and costume contests. Live music will be provided by Lesley Grant and Black Diamond Barbecue will provide delicious food and local craft beer. Registration begins at 10am and the Walk/Run begins at 11am. Center ring demonstrations and contests begin at 12 noon.
Every dollar raised from the event will help provide medical treatment, behavioral programs, and compassionate care to more than 600 animals who come through NCAL each year. Individuals and teams can register to walk for the animals online at www.ncal.com, or purchase a ticket to join for the festivities the day-of.
