Equine Ambassador

Equine Ambassadors learn the essential duties of caring for horses at North Country Animal League. This is the perfect opportunity for someone who has a desire to learn the basics or is just starting to explore their interest in horsemanship. Equine Ambassadors will work closely with staff and learn how to perform chores and necessary tasks to keep the Equine Center tidy and running properly. What do I need to be a volunteer at NCAL?:

• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination • A minimum 3 month commitment • Must be at least 12 years of age • Must have an email address • Volunteers must fill out an application below • Must complete orientation and applicable training • Must pay $10 volunteer fee

• Ability to stand for long periods of time • Have experience working with horses previously •  Ability to commit to a schedule • Comfortable lifting over 20lbs. • Must have reliable transportation •  Ability to follow directions • Friendly and warm personality • Must be 12 years and older to volunteer without parent/ guardian

What are the volunteer hours for this position?

This position is available Mondays through Saturdays, between 9am-3pm in shifts of 1 hour

General upkeep such as sweeping, organizing, and cleaning • Stacking hay bales • Bedding stalls • Clearing Aisles • Picking paddocks • Scrubbing water buckets • Assisting with other general barn tasks as assigned

If you are under 12, the Junior Volunteer position at the Pet Adoption Center is the right fit for you.

I'm unable to commit to a fixed schedule, but want to help out. Can I still volunteer?

If you are unable to commit to a schedule, we have a drop-in Shelter Ambassador position at the Pet Adoption Center that might be the right fit for you.
