NCAL Meals Delivery Driver/Packer

NCAL Meals is a community based program that helps support local families in need with free pet food assistance. This position can either be specific to the role of an NCAL Meals Delivery Driver or an NCAL Meals Packer or a combination of the two. What do I need to be a volunteer at NCAL?:

• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination • A minimum 3 month commitment • Must be at least 16 years of age • Must have an email address • Volunteers must fill out an application below • Must complete orientation and applicable training • Must pay $10 volunteer fee

What skills do I need to be an NCAL Meals Delivery Driver?

• Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time • Ability to commit to two hours once a month between 9:30-11:00am Tuesday through Saturday • Comfortable lifting over 20lbs • Have adequate space in vehicle for delivery • Must have reliable transportation and valid license • Must have a clean driving record • Ability to follow directions • Friendly and warm personality • Must be 18 years and older • Comfortable and dependable in handling money

What skills do I need to be an NCAL Meals Delivery Packer?

• Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time • Ability to commit to two hours per week Tuesday through Saturday • Comfortable lifting over 20lbs • Ability to follow directions • Friendly and warm personality • Must be 16 years and older • Comfortable and dependable in handling money

What are the volunteer hours for this position?

The Delivery Driver position is available Tuesday through Saturday 9:30-11:00am, and the Packer position is available Tuesday through Saturday, 1:00-5:00pm.

What are the essential functions of an NCAL Meals Delivery Driver?

• Load tote bins into vehicle for weekly pet food delivery drop offs • Follow delivery route instructions for weekly food drop offs • Return tote bins to NCAL after delivery and follow organization protocols • Pick up food donations at various donation sites • Pick up coin can donations at various donation sites • Other miscellaneous tasks

What are the essential functions of an NCAL Meals Delivery Packer?

• Pack food into ZIP Loc bags with clearly marked labels • Move filled tote bins to designated storage areas in the shelter • Load tote bins into vehicle for weekly pet food delivery drop offs if needed • Follow instructions for weekly food drop offs • Keep track of shelter food inventory • Other miscellaneous tasks

If you are under 16, the Junior Volunteer position at the Pet Adoption Center is the right fit for you.

I'm unable to commit to a fixed schedule, but want to help out. Can I still volunteer?

If you are unable to commit to a schedule, we have a drop-in Shelter Ambassador position at the Pet Adoption Center that might be the right fit for you.
