Winter Saddle Club
Winter takes a calmer pace at North Country Equine Center, but the fun continues! In Winter Saddle Club, young equestrians are matched with their own horse or pony on day one, who they will care for and ride throughout the 7-week program. They will spend time improving their skills in the saddle, playing games, participating in barn chores and learning important horsemanship skills while at the farm.
Each Saddle Clubber will be matched with one of our wonderful horses or ponies for the duration of the program, who they will learn to care for, groom, ride and feed. When temps stay above 15°, Saddle Clubbers will be taught in a 45-minute small group lesson each day to take place in our indoor arena. Horsemanship lessons include tacking and equipment, feeding and nutrition, equine anatomy and first aid, cleaning and barn management, and grooming and blanketing.
Our experienced instructors meet riders where they are and make learning and caring for horses tons of fun! Winter Saddle Clubbers will get to warm up from the cold in NCAL’s new heated viewing room (coming December 2021!), to make sure that everyone stays warm – even on the coldest winter days!
