Welcome to the North Country Animal League’s Pet Food Assistance Program!

At North Country Animal League (NCAL), we believe that every pet deserves a loving home and a full belly. Our Pet Food Assistance Program is designed to support members of our community who may be facing challenges in providing proper nourishment for their beloved pets.

Our Commitment: Keeping Pets and People Together

As the cost of living continues to rise, we recognize how difficult it can be for families to keep their pets fed. To ensure no pet goes hungry and no family has to face unnecessary hardship, NCAL provides multiple ways for our community to access pet food assistance.

We are proud to now offer a 24-hour Pet Food Pantry, located in the entryway of the NCAL Pet Adoption Center. This self-serve pantry is available any time, day or night, and is open to anyone who needs support. No enrollment or paperwork is required to access the 24-hour pantry. Visitors will also find a simple information sheet inside; if they feel comfortable, they are welcome to leave basic details to help us track demand and keep supplies well-stocked.

Optional Enrollment for Families Traveling From Farther Away

For community members traveling long distances (approximately an hour or more), we encourage completing a brief enrollment form. Because our 24-hour pantry is intentionally stocked with smaller grab-and-go quantities, enrollment allows us to prepare larger amounts of food for families who are making a substantial trip. This helps ensure that long-distance visitors leave with enough supplies so they do not have to make multiple long drives.

Enrollment is quick, confidential, and entirely optional for those who need only occasional support locally. It simply helps us plan ahead and better serve families coming from farther away.

How It Works

  • Local or occasional need:
Stop by the 24-hour pantry anytime and take what you need. No enrollment required.

  • Traveling from far away (1+ hour):
We recommend completing the optional enrollment form so we can prepare larger bags ahead of your visit.

  • Information sheet at the pantry:
Inside the pantry entryway, you’ll find a simple clipboard sheet for anyone who wishes to provide basic, voluntary information to help us track usage and plan restocking.

All personal information is kept strictly confidential.

Supporting Pets and People – Get Involved

A strong sense of community makes this program possible. If you would like to help keep our pantry stocked and our support services strong, you can:

  • Donate unopened dog or cat food

  • Volunteer to help organize and restock supplies

  • Make a monetary donation to support local families in need

Your generosity directly supports pets and the people who love them.

Together, we can ensure that no family has to make the heartbreaking decision to give up a pet due to financial hardship.
