Isn’t it time to find your next best friend?

Thank you for choosing to adopt! Our goal is to find loving, forever homes for each of the animals in our care.

Our staff is here to help.

We’ll be your guides to finding the animal that’s the right fit for you and your lifestyle.

How to Adopt

STEP ONE

Search or Visit

Search adoption listings on NCAL’s website for dogs or cats currently available for adoption. You can also visit our Pet Adoption Center during our open hours.

Tuesday – Friday: 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Saturday: 10:00 am – 3:00 pm

Sunday & Monday: Closed

STEP TWO

Register

If you see an animal you wish to meet, first Register your Adoption Interest by submitting an Adoption Questionnaire for a dog or cat.

STEP THREE

Schedule

Once you have registered your interest by submitting our Adoption Questionnaire, you can contact our Pet Adoption Center by phone at (802) 888-5065 ext. 101, or by email at adopt@ncal.com to schedule a Meet & Greet to come meet our available animals. Potential adopters understand that scheduling an appointment does not hold a particular animal for them and that our staff will do our best to accommodate scheduling and interest.

STEP FOUR

Meet & Greet

It’s time to come meet our animals! Once your appointment is scheduled, you will visit our Pet Adoption Center to meet our available animals. Meet & Greet appointments are 1-hour duration for dogs and 30-minute duration for cats. Please arrive on time for your appointment so we can make the best of the time provided. When you arrive for your scheduled appointment, you will be greeted by an adoption counselor who will review your interests and needs and introduce you to animals who are the best match. If you are meeting with dogs and have other dogs in the home, they will need to come to the appointment to meet with the NCAL animal, or you can schedule a separate appointment for a dog introduction.

STEP FIVE

Adopt

After your Meet & Greet, if your adoption counselor determines you and the pet are a good match, you may move forward with the adoption process and adopt the animal that day, or you may place a $50 adoption deposit that holds that animal for adoption until the end of the next business day.
