Devyn recognized at a young age that she had so much love to give, and that as she grew older, she could use that love to give an animal the second chance they deserve.
Saylor came to NCAL last fall with some behavioral needs. He received multiple training sessions to help him improve his basic commands. Every day he practiced walking on a leash and interacting with other dogs and people. After a little over a month of making steady progress at NCAL, the day came when Saylor met his mom, Devyn Taft.
Over the past year, Saylor has adjusted incredibly well to life in his forever home. His family has exposed him to many learning experiences and he has grown by leaps and bounds! Devyn says, “The first time we brought him to our lake house, it was clear he had never been around water, never going above his head for days. Then one day, unexpectedly, he leapt off the end of the dock and the rest is history!” In the summer months, you will find Saylor swimming for 6-8 hours a day! Saylor also enjoys hiking where he can explore new smells and make new friends. Above all else, Saylor loves his family and nothing makes him happier than being home with them at the end of a fun-filled day. That’s when this contented boy burrows under a blanket on the couch and snuggles up to his mom.
Devyn says, “Saylor is by far the best thing that has ever happened to me. He is my baby, my best friend, my soulmate, and the love of my life all in one! I have never experienced a love like the one that we share! From the day I first met him I devoted my life to him, he is my every thought, and everything I do is for him. I have never felt such pure joy like I do when I see him enjoying the life that I have given him. He is my greatest reward.”
